The theme of the 54th edition of the Festival will be announced during the day,
at the same time, with Sixteen Ways to Say Hello, the International Children's Rights Day will be celebrated in five Italian regions
Every year on November 20th, an idea is celebrated: the birthday of the Giffoni Film Festival. On this very date, in fact, in 1970, the founder Claudio Gubitosi – then just eighteen years old – had for the first time the intuition of a unique event dedicated to girls and boys, young women and young men. This is how the festival was born, which, from that moment on, has evolved and today is universally recognized as one of the most followed and loved cultural and social events in the world.
On Monday, November 20, that idea turns 54 and, within the Multimedia Valley, we will celebrate together with the entire community: it will be wonderful to come together and start the path towards the next Festival, scheduled from July 19 to 28, 2024. On this occasion, the theme of the 2024 edition will be announced, which will characterize all the activities of the year.
Many initiatives and surprises: at 10.00:XNUMX the doors of the Truffaut Hall will open to welcome hundreds of students from the Don Milani Linguiti Institute of Giffoni Valle Piana, who will have the opportunity to enter the history and world of Giffoni through the words of its founder. Claudio Gubitosi will accompany them throughout the morning, retracing the stages of the idea with anecdotes and stories, making the kids appropriate the values, roots and history of Giffoni.
The event will continue at 16.30:13 pm with Generators +16, +18 and +54 who will have the opportunity to test themselves with interactive games. The general director, Jacopo Gubitosi, will welcome the kids, along with the entire management team. For each of these sections, the three fastest and best will win a place on the #GiffoniXNUMX jury.
At 17.30:3 pm it will be the turn of Elements +6, +10 and +3 who will first participate in the screening of some short films and then in the drawing of the first jurors for the next edition of the Festival. In this way the first three jurors for each section (Elements +6, +10 and +18) will be made official. Throughout the afternoon, there will also be speeches by boys and girls who, in the last year, have taken part in international events and connections with the Giffoni hubs in the world. But there is more. For young people between the ages of 24 and XNUMX, there is a truly unmissable opportunity. The Production Department will in fact carry out the casting to identify the new faces of the Giffoni Video Factory. Those selected will be part of the team for the next edition of the Festival and will be involved in many activities ranging from traditional audiovisual production to the creation of multimedia content for social media.
And while in Multimedia the idea of Giffoni will be celebrated, Sedici Modi di Dire Ciao – the project conceived and created by Giffoni, selected by the social enterprise Con i Bambini, as part of the Fund for the fight against child educational poverty – will give space to the International Day for the Rights of Children and Adolescents, scheduled for November 20. At the headquarters of the Astronave a Pedali Association in Eboli, the five shipyards (Campania, Basilicata, Calabria, Veneto and Sardinia) will come together to imagine a more sustainable future for every child, through dialogue and discussion, thanks also to the collaboration of psychologists and psychotherapists Giulia Troisi, Valeria Morgese and Valeria Milone.
