The Civil Protection of the Campania Region has issued a warning weather alert for rain and strong storms valid from 21pm today, Thursday 2 November, until 21pm tomorrow, Friday 3 November, throughout the region.
The alert, regarding the hydrogeological risk, is level: orange on zones 1, 2,3 (Campania Plain, Naples, Islands, Vesuvian Area, Alto Volturno and Matese, Sorrento-Amalfi Coast, Sarno Mountains and Picentini Mountains) and yellow on the rest of the region. The alert state is also in force for very strong winds with gusts and very rough seas along the exposed coasts, we read in the note from the Civil Protection.
Thunderstorms, even of strong intensity, will give rise to a widespread hydrogeological risk and a hydraulic risk, with possible landslides, slope instability, rapid mudslides, falling rocks, flooding, overflowing, rising water levels of watercourses with flooding of neighbouring areas, surface runoff of rainwater in streets and involvement of depressed urban areas.
The Civil Protection of the Campania Region calls on the Mayors to pay maximum attention. We remind you to activate the Municipal Operations Centers, to implement all the rules provided for by the Civil Protection plans and to adopt the necessary measures to mitigate the risk and secure the territory and protect citizens. The competent authorities are invited to also check the correct maintenance of public green areas, as well as structures exposed to the stress of winds and wave motion. Pay attention to subsequent notices issued by the Regional Operations Room.
