The military personnel of the Carabinieri Forestry Units of Sessa Aurunca, Roccamonfina, Vairano Patenora and Pietramelara, assisted by technical personnel of the Arpac of the Caserta Department, carried out, in the municipality of Sessa Aurunca (Ce), an inspection at an oil mill on via Circumvallazione.
The investigation, as stated in a note from the Carabinieri, highlighted the existence of a small well, located in the square behind the processing area and connected to the municipal public sewer system, "in which both the vegetation water from the pressing of the olives stored in an underground tank through a submerged lifting pump and a corrugated plastic pipe, and the olive washing water directly introduced into the well through an underground pipe, were illegally disposed of".
The military then proceeded to seize the drain well connected to the municipal sewer system and reported the owner of the plant to the judicial authorities, in a state of freedom, both for the crime of illegal management of non-hazardous liquid special waste and for the crime of discharging industrial waste water without authorization. The investigation, the note concludes, also highlighted the integration of an administrative violation as "the milling notebook was not filled out. For this last irregularity, the administrative sanction provided for by the regional technical regulations for the agronomic use of vegetation water and wet pomace from the olive mills of the Campania Region will be imposed".
