The Supreme Court has put an end to the matter by establishing that the sentences against the murderers of the police officer of Napoli, Pasquale Apicella, are definitive.
The conviction for the three bandits who rammed and killed officer Pasquale Apicella, who was shot to death while trying to stop robbers who had robbed an ATM and carried out other raids, has become definitive.
The two brothers Igor and Abram Adzovic - as Il Mattino reports - were sentenced to 14 years in prison, while Fabricio Adzovic, who was driving a stolen car, was sentenced to 22 years.
The three were in a car on Via Calata Capodichino on April 27, 2020 and had just broken into an ATM. The car driven by officer Pasqualke Apicella pulled up in front of them, trying to block them.
But the car, a powerful Audi, with the three bandits, modified and reinforced in the bumpers, hurtled at high speed against the police car, running over and killing officer Apicella.
A fourth member of the gang, Renato Adzovic, 23, who took part in the theft but not the murder, has already been tried and sentenced to six years in prison for minor crimes under the abbreviated trial.
To the sentences inflicted on Fabricio Hadzovic, Admir Hadzovic, and Igor Adzovic for voluntary homicide (26, 18 and 18 years of imprisonment) will have to be added those that will be issued by the Court of Assizes of Appeal of Naples to which the Supreme Court has deferred the evaluations only for the satellite crimes.
The postponement was made necessary because some of the satellite crimes charged to the defendants, such as theft, have become, as a result of the entry into force of the so-called Cartabia reform, inadmissible due to lack of complaint. The association Vittime del Dovere, which constituted itself as a civil party and assisted by the lawyer Sergio Bellotti, was recognized as having the right to compensation for damages and reimbursement of expenses.
“We believe it is necessary to support Pasquale Apicella's family through the search for the truth,” the association comments, “doing justice first of all involves framing the facts objectively, attributing the correct responsibilities to the perpetrators of crimes who unfortunately did not consider the value of other people's lives as a priority.”
