The Court of Santa Maria Capua Vetere issued the sentence in the context of the investigation The Queen, which concerned the collusion between professionals, entrepreneurs and local politicians to favor the entrepreneur Guglielmo La Regina.

The heaviest sentences were handed down to Pasquale Sommese, former regional councilor for Tourism, and La Regina, both sentenced to seven years in prison. Sommese is accused of having had expertise in the disbursement of some of the financing that ended up under the scrutiny of the investigators, while La Regina is accused of being the "dominus" of the system of collusion that would have allowed him to steer the contracts to his own advantage.

Other sentences were handed down to Alessandro Zagaria (5 years and 4 months), Raffaele Zoccolillo (5 years and 4 months), Domenico Antonio Ramarro (5 years and 4 months), Giuseppe Avecone (former mayor of Alife, 5 years and 4 months), Domenico De Cristofaro known as Enrico (former mayor of Aversa, 4 years) and Antonio Sommese known as Antonello (relative of former councilor Sommese, 3 years and 4 months).

There were also numerous acquittals - as Il Mattino anticipates - some due to the statute of limitations and others that exonerated the defendants from the crimes charged. Among those acquitted, with the formula "for not having committed the crime", Corrado Romano, Vincenzo Esposito, Rino Dimola, Mario Cerrone Palermo. For two counts there was also acquittal against Alessandro Zagaria.

Furthermore, the statute of limitations was declared in relation to the facts for which Aldo Aveta, Claudio De Biasio, Daniele Marrama, Vito Cappiello, Sergio Stenti, Marco Cascella, Carlo Coppola, Michele Apicella, Gabriele Venditti, Claudio Accarino, the former mayor of Casapulla Ferdinando Bosco were brought to trial.
