The Battiti di Pesca Association is pleased to announce that it has received the prestigious Special Award “Sport and Environment” awarded by the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI) for the Province of Salerno. This recognition of considerable importance was awarded after a careful evaluation of the Association's curriculum, which stood out for its exceptional dedication to the promotion of sport fishing and environmental awareness.
The ceremony for the awarding of Sports Honours and Sports Merit will be held at the Palazzo della Provincia di Salerno on 5 December 2023 at 17 pm, representing a moment of great importance for the Battiti di Pesca Association, which has been active in the area for ten years.
The Association, since its foundation, has shone for the promotion of sport fishing in the Campania Region, organizing events in places such as Sapri, Capitello, Scario, Roccagloriosa, Ercolano, Naples and Capri. These events have involved thousands of passionate fishermen from various Italian regions, contributing significantly to the diffusion and enhancement of this fascinating discipline.
However, the Association's commitment goes beyond sport fishing itself. Battiti di Pesca has distinguished itself for its strong awareness of the geo-environmental emergencies present in the territory. Through dedicated conferences and reflections in schools, the Association has actively promoted the protection of the sea resource, thanks also to the professionalism of the President Antonio Scarfone, Federal Environmental Instructor recognized by the Italian Federation of Sport Fishing and Underwater Activities (FIPSAS) to which Battiti di pesca is affiliated.
A further sign of Battiti di Pesca's deep social commitment emerged with the interventions to help the population of the Benevento area following the flood of 2015 and with the realization in 2017 of the sport fishing competition "Pesca un sorriso". The latter, held on the historic San Vincenzo pier in Naples, raised funds for the Santobono-Pausillipon hospital through the Pediatric Oncology and Neuroblastoma Association (OPEN), contributing to the creation of a play room for young patients.
President Antonio Scarfone dedicates this prestigious recognition to the Board of Directors of Battiti di Pesca, composed of Vice President Cristiano Moscovio, Secretary Tony Peluso and Treasurer Giulio Cammarosano. Special thanks also go to the National Councilor FIPSAS, Dr. Alberto Gentile, and to all those who follow and support the Association with passion, demonstrating an authentic heartbeat for sport fishing.
A special dedication is made to the memory of Angelo Vassallo, the “Fisherman Mayor” of Pollica, murdered on September 5, 2010 in Acciaroli. Battiti di Pesca has always been at the side of the Angelo Vassallo Fisherman Mayor Foundation, contributing both to the search for the truth together with the brothers Dario and Massimo, and to the sharing of the ideals of legality, respect and environmental protection that have distinguished the figure of Mayor Angelo Vassallo. The Battiti di Pesca Association thanks the CONI of Salerno for this prestigious recognition with the commitment to continue its mission of promoting sport fishing and raising awareness among future generations on the protection of the marine-coastal environment.
