This morning, the Police Chief of Napoli, Dr. Maurizio Agricola, and the President of AIMe.Pe. – “Associazione Italiana Mediatori Penali”, Dr. Mariacristina Ciambrone, have renewed the memorandum of understanding on stalking and domestic violence. The collaboration agreement, signed for the first time in November 2021, is aimed at starting a recovery process, on a voluntary and free basis, for the recipients of the Police Commissioner's warnings for stalking and domestic violence who have the possibility of being followed at one of the AIMe.Pe. offices where a multidisciplinary work team composed of criminologists, lawyers, psychotherapists, educators and mediators will help them to change their behavior in emotional relationships through the acquisition of awareness of the disvalue of the actions committed in order to limit cases of recidivism.
In particular, as of October 31st of this year, the Police Chief of Napoli has issued 141 warnings, of which 61 for stalking and 80 for domestic violence, with a projection of growth in the total number of measures issued, by next December 31, of more than a third compared to the last two years. Currently, of the 141 subjects warned, only 10 are repeat offenders, of which 5 are already enrolled in the recovery path.
The evident containment of recidivism against women victims of violence and the work of recovery of the warned subjects, associated with the warning, represents a central tool in the fight against gender violence and in the early identification and emergence of behaviors that indicate mistreatment. Therefore, the protocol has contributed and will contribute to the construction of a prevention system based on an effective network model between all the institutions daily engaged in the fight against domestic or gender violence.
