Melito opens family home for women victims of violence

A new family home for women victims of violence opens in Melito.

Il martedì 21 novembre 2023, alle 9.30 presso il Comune di Melito, in via Roma 8, sarà inaugurato un nuovo centro per le donne vittime di violence.

Il bene confiscato alla criminalità organizzata, intitolato a Teresa Buonocore, la madre coraggio di Portici, sarà gestito dalla Cooperativa sociale Casa dei sogni in associazione temporanea d’impresa con l’A.P.S. Nessuno Escluso, la cooperativa sociale Apeiron e l’associazione Comitato civico Camposcino.

This specially designated cottage will become a family home that offers support and protection to women who are victims of violence. The facility is named after Teresa Buonocore, a courageous woman who lost her life for reporting the pedophile who abused her daughter.

Teresa Buonocore became a symbol of courage and determination after she reported the man who abused her 8-year-old daughter. Murdered by two hitmen in 2010, Teresa Buonocore was awarded the gold medal for civil merit in 2017 for her heroic gesture. This new family home bears her name to honor her memory and continue her mission of helping women victims of violence.

The inauguration of the “Teresa Buonocore” family home will be attended by the metropolitan mayor of Naples Gaetano Manfredi, the delegated councilor Salvatore Flocco and the heads of the associations involved. In addition, Alessandra Cuevas, daughter of Teresa Buonocore, will be present to commemorate this important milestone.

This new center represents a step forward in the fight against violence against women in Naples and offers a safe haven and support for those in need. Its opening is a sign of hope for those women who need help in difficult times.
