The underground garbage dump in Naples. In Montesanto, a former war shelter has been transformed into an illegal dump for plastic and cardboard.
It is known that at Napoli there are two cities: one outside and the other underground. What is less known is that the underground part is often used to create illegal landfills.
One was discovered by geologist Gianluca Minn who, through his Instagram profile, showed how underground near Via Montesanto, in a former war shelter, there is a huge illegal deposit of plastic crates, cardboard and other waste.

Several users have reported the incident to Green-Left Alliance MP Francesco Emilio Borrelli. "We can't believe our eyes. They've created a 'garbage dump.' We've reported this mess and asked the Environmental Police to intervene so they can identify whoever undisturbedly dumped such a large amount of waste on the site in question, report it, and fine it," Borrelli stated. "It's clear there's a complete lack of respect for both the environment and the city, and in some areas, total anarchy reigns.
We therefore demand increased controls and a tougher fight against illegal activity and that the regulations be changed so that more severe sentences are foreseen for environmental crimes. It is no longer possible to tolerate and allow certain actions that are to be defined as highly criminal.”
