The Regional School Office for Campania has launched the call for the national competition “Il faro di Annalisa”, promoted by the association 'Annalisa During' in collaboration with the Campania Region, the Municipality of Naples and Campania law – Fondazione Premio Napoli.
The competition is aimed at schools of all levels and is part of the celebrations for the fifth edition of the National Award established in memory of the young innocent victim of Forcella, killed on 27 March 2004 in a firefight between rival clans, and to whom the 'Open Library' is dedicated, animated by the young woman's father and the association founded in his name.
New to the 2023 edition is the establishment of the category: 'I have never read' which aims to bring young people closer to reading. The winner of this category will be awarded by the writer Maurizio de Giovanni, president of Campania legge – Fondazione Premio Napoli. "In addition to the attention that the valuable activities of the 'Annalisa Durante' association, a leading reality in the Neapolitan activism scene, have always attracted - says De Giovanni - the theme that was chosen this year for the competition fully captures the objectives that we are pursuing with Campania legge – Fondazione Premio Napoli: putting a book in the hands of those who have never read, promoting the return to the written word of young and old as a tool for personal training and the fight against crime.
Contributing to the revival of reading is an aim of extraordinary value and the Foundation I preside strongly supports it”. In particular, the competitors will have to specify why they have never read until now, which book they have chosen to read for the competition and why and they will have to send this information on an audio file together with the reading of the lines of the book that have aroused their greatest interest.
“We have been carrying out this commitment in Forcella and involving the entire country for about 20 years,” emphasizes Giuseppe Perna, president of APS Annalisa Durante, “we hope that the kids will reciprocate this gesture by participating in the competition and becoming an active part of this journey. We will collect all the works and recompose the audio messages to make them become a call to reading to be launched on a national scale.” As in past editions, applications for the competition may also consist of literary, artistic and audiovisual works. The applications, presented by Italian schools of all levels, must be sent by December 22.
