The story of Martina, a student at the Vanvitelli University, stands as a symbol of the persistent violence that continues to claim victims among wives, girlfriends, partners and women in general.
The story of Martina, who lost her mother Valentina Colella at the age of just 6, is a painful example of this tragedy. Valentina, killed in 2011 at the age of 26 by her partner with two gunshots, will have the opportunity to tell her story during a meeting entitled 'The Silence of the Lambs', which will be held tomorrow at the Department of Law at Palazzo Melzi, Santa Maria Capua Vetere.
The event is part of the day dedicated to the elimination of violence against women, organized by the University of Campania Luigi Vanvitelli in collaboration with the Caserta Police Headquarters.
'The Silence of the Lambs' aims to raise awareness and educate the students of the University, as well as the school children of the institutes of the Province of Caserta. The day includes the participation of institutional figures, teachers and representatives of local associations involved in the fight against violence against women.
The University, in collaboration with the Caserta Police Headquarters, plays a key role in promoting activities and reflections on the topic, contributing to the educational process and training of future operators. This year, attention will be focused on the 'collateral' victims of feminicides, namely orphans and family members who have to deal with the irreparable loss of a mother or daughter, experiencing a devastating trauma.
The day will be inaugurated by institutional greetings from the rector, Gianfranco Nicoletti, and the director of the Department of Law, Raffaele Picaro, followed by the introduction of the University Delegate for equal opportunities, Marianna Pignata.
The speakers will also include the police commissioner of Caserta, Andrea Grassi, the provincial commander of the Carabinieri of Caserta and the director of the advanced training course in “Gender violence and secondary victimization” of the Department of Law, Teresa Alesci.
Martina Floriano, a student at the University of Campania Luigi Vanvitelli, will share her testimony during the event. In addition, short films dedicated to combating gender violence will be screened.
