Three buildings of great charm will open their doors to the public for the project “The treasures of hilly Naples. Memories of material and immaterial places, between stories, projects and tales”.
The initiative, promoted and financed by the Municipality of Naples, will be divided into three in-depth meetings, each set in a villa of significant artistic interest and dedicated to a particular chapter in the history and culture of hilly Naples.
“Promoting knowledge of cultural heritage and encouraging its public enjoyment is one of the strategic axes around which the action of the Manfredi Administration is developed – said Sergio Locoratolo, coordinator of Cultural Policies of the Municipality of Naples -.
We have chosen to operate starting from the territory, with a polycentric and inclusive vision, which aims to bring to light hidden treasures to return them to the city. It is with this in mind that, in collaboration with Municipality 3, we have decided to promote a path of valorization of the hilly Naples, which will start from the rediscovery of some extraordinary historical buildings, mostly closed or rarely accessible to the public”.
There are countless treasures of the Third Municipality that deserve to be 'revealed' - said Fabio Greco, President of Municipality 3 of Naples - to be brought to the attention of citizens and tourists. There are just as many realities that work day after day on and for the territory, whose commitment deserves to be valued.
For these reasons, the Municipal Council has welcomed and supported the proposal of the Culture Commission, chaired by Councilor Giuliana De Lorenzo, to launch the project 'The Treasures of Hilly Naples'.
A composite project, which will propose a multi-voiced story, combining the enhancement of the Villas with cultural, historical-artistic and naturalistic insights”. The first appointment, scheduled for Friday 10 and Saturday 11 November at Villa Colonna Bandini, in viale Colli Aminei, will take us to the heart of Capodimonte to recall the atmospheres of the noble villas of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, focusing attention on the birthplace of the illustrious mathematician Renato Caccioppoli.
The meeting will be accompanied by an unpublished photographic exhibition by Sergio Siano entitled 'Capodimonte and its hidden dwellings', which will offer a visual journey through the art and culture of those extraordinary times.
The second appointment, scheduled for Friday 1st December at Villa Ferretti, in via Miano, will guide us through the history of Vallone San Rocco and Bellaria, through a conference and a dramatized visit, an engaging experience that will evoke memories of the past, revealing secrets and stories of these enchanting places.
The third appointment, scheduled for Tuesday 12 December at Villa di Donato, in Piazza Sant'Eframo Vecchio, will take us to discover the historic villas of Sant'Eframo, exploring the past, present and future of these magnificent residences.
On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the birth of Enrico Caruso, a show dedicated to the great tenor will be proposed, an emotional tribute to his life and his bond with the city of Naples.
Participants will have the opportunity to discover the peculiarities of one of the lesser-known areas, losing themselves in the landscape of hilly Naples, among valleys and vineyards, tuff giants and underground cavities, and then dive into the artistic and architectural heritage and relive the glories of times gone by. An experience aimed at enriching knowledge but also at arousing a renewed passion for the history and culture of the city of Naples.
