Napoli. Mario Palma, the 81-year-old killed yesterday in his home in the Fuorigrotta neighborhood, knew his killer and opened the door for him.

Investigators are convinced of this, and are following a very specific lead since there are no signs of forced entry at the door and nothing is missing from the house. Palma was killed with several stab wounds, to the face and neck.
The Carabinieri investigations into the murder are oriented towards the personal lead. An acquaintance, someone who trusted the old man enough to open the door without problems and without thinking that he was his murderer.
An unrepaid loan, a request for money? And then the argument suddenly degenerated to the point that the murderer hurled himself ferociously on the body of the unfortunate old man.
The killer may have asked him for money.
The military (coordinated by the deputy prosecutor Antonella Lauri and the additional prosecutor Pierpaolo Filippelli) have been investigating since yesterday to shed light on the incident: family members and acquaintances have been interviewed while the analysis of the images from the video surveillance systems in the area is still underway.
The elderly man, a pensioner from a hospital in Naples and a lover of painting, is described as a well-mannered person and – at least for now – no element has emerged in his past that could be linked to the murder, carried out in such a brutal manner.
The body will undergo an autopsy that will reveal precisely how many stab wounds were inflicted (to the face, neck and abdomen). Furthermore, the case is about to be handed over to the magistrates of the Urban Security section (coordinated by the deputy prosecutor Sergio Amato).
