“Yes, I was the one who called 112 that night, of course. What time was it? Around 23:XNUMX PM, more or less. Did I hear someone calling for help? I can’t make any further statements. I’ve already told the Carabinieri and the girl’s family everything.”
The super-witness of Giulia's murder, Marco Musumeci, the man who raised the alarm when he heard the girl's screams, attacked by Filippo, in the parking lot 150 meters from the Cecchettin house, told journalists, speaking into the intercom of his home.
“I understand the attention for such a serious case that has had a huge impact because they are kids next door” and therefore one has the feeling that it is something “that can affect anyone”.
This was stated by the chief prosecutor of Venice, Bruno Cherchi (pictured), on the sidelines of a conference regarding the murder of 22-year-old Giulia Cecchettin for which her ex-boyfriend Filippo Turetta was arrested.
Venice Chief Prosecutor: “They are the boys next door”
“Unfortunately the girl has been found and the boy has been arrested, at this point the investigations must continue in the calm and serenity that all investigations have and must have.
The suspect has the right, like all suspects, to be treated calmly and objectively,” he adds. A calmness that is “obvious on the part of the prosecutor,” but necessary “also on the part of public opinion that must stop this emotional participation that is creating some difficulties not for the investigations but for the people involved, the parents of the victim and the suspect, and this is not a positive fact,” concludes the prosecutor.
