Victor Osimhen is among the 30 candidates for the 2022-2023 African Player of the Year award.The striker of Napoli and Nigeria was the top scorer of the Serie A last season with 26 goals and in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers with 10, including four in a single match.
The stars of the Morocco team that made history in Qatar last December, becoming the first African semi-finalist in the World Cup, are also in the running. They are goalkeeper Yassine bonou, of the defender Achraf Hakimi, of midfielder Sofyan Amazing, of the Hakim wing ziyech and striker Youssef in Nesyri.

Senegal's Sadio Mane and Egypt's Mohamed Salah, both two-time winners of the award, were also nominated. Walid Regragui, who took charge of Morocco a few months before the World Cup, is among 10 candidates for the coaching award.
The awards ceremony is scheduled for Monday, December 11 in Marrakech.
