He burned his brother alive to collect the money from the insurance policies he had him sign. On this charge, the Naples Assize Court sentenced Antonio Martone, a 37-year-old from Sant'Antonio Abate, to life imprisonment.
The semi-charred body of his brother Domenico Martone was found on a country road on the border with Lettere on the evening of March 30, 2022. The investigations, conducted by the Carabinieri of the Castellammare di Stabia and coordinated by the Torre Annunziata Prosecutor's Office, led to the crime being committed within the family.
According to the Carabinieri investigation, the 36-year-old killed his brother by setting him on fire while he was still alive to collect the compensation from a life insurance policy taken out on the victim, which had been taken out more than a year earlier at the initiative of his older brother, the sole beneficiary.
