“The Neapolitan taxi service has fully complied with the request for non-scheduled public service, passengers have never had to wait exhaustingly long at the city's airports and at all the assigned stations in the territory of Napoli, as happens in the other metropolitan cities mentioned”.
This is what the Neapolitan association of basic taxi drivers highlights, which, in a note signed by spokesperson Guido Savastano, responds to the Antitrust according to which there would have been, based on the data acquired over the months, a poor offer by Neapolitan taxi drivers to the massive tourist influx into the city. In relation to the alleged shortcomings on the part of the Neapolitan taxi service, the association highlights that "the data highlighted are not estimated for the entire calendar year".
“We therefore believe – Savastano further highlights – not to consent to the request for new licenses in the Campania capital by the control body”. The press release also highlights some sore points already mentioned on other occasions: “there is no commercial speed; the taxi category has no alternative routes to provide an adequate service to its users; there is a surplus of licenses and other licenses would not serve the cause”.
The basic taxi drivers association invites the Antitrust to ask the Municipality of Naples "to accept the requests highlighted above in this document: as also cited by the 'Asset' decree, only in this way could a precise estimate be made in anticipation of possible new licenses. In Naples, there is a supply greater than demand", concludes the note.
