A 42-year-old man, Giovanni Vernato, died in a road accident that occurred at dawn today, November 19, in Pozzuoli.
Vernato, a resident of Licola Mare, was riding a scooter when he collided head-on with an Alfa Romeo driven by a young man from Monterusciello. The impact was extremely violent and the 42-year-old was thrown onto the asphalt, dying instantly.
The 118 paramedics intervened on the spot and could do nothing but confirm the death. The investigations are being conducted by the Municipal Police of Pozzuoli.
According to initial reports, the Alfa Romeo was coming from the opposite direction and invaded the 42-year-old's lane, hitting him. The driver of the car was identified and taken to the hospital to undergo tests to verify whether he had been under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
