This is the same sentence that an elderly lady from the hamlet of Vena in the municipality of Maida, in the province of Catanzaro, heard on the phone from an unknown person who, continuing, told her that a lawyer would be coming by the house shortly to collect the necessary money.
The woman, visibly shocked and dazed, handed over everything in her house, her life savings, jewelry and trinkets with a total value of approximately 17.000 euros, to the unknown man who showed up and then quickly fled. The most classic case of fraud against the elderly.
After realizing that she had been the victim of a scam, the woman reported the facts to the Carabinieri of the Maida station. The military began a thorough investigation, in order to identify the perpetrator.
The investigations, mostly of a traditional nature, carried out quickly and confidentially, allowed the military to quickly trace the perpetrator of the scam who, on the day of the event, had left his hometown, Naples.
The charge is aggravated fraud, with the consequent application of the precautionary measure of house arrest carried out by the Carabinieri of the Naples Borgoloreto Station. The man is a 33-year-old already known to the police.
