The Carabinieri of the Montefalcone di Val Fortore station (Benevento), coordinated by the company of San Bartolomeo in Galdo, reported a 22 year old from Neapolitan and a 26-year-old of foreign origins, resident in the Rieti area and already known to the police, for attempted fraud.
Last August, a local man reported to the Carabinieri that he had been contacted by telephone by a fake postal operator who had told him that a deposit of approximately 30 euros had been made by mistake into his current account and that the operator had attempted to convince him to return the same amount of money by making deposits onto a credit card. Upon receiving the complaint, the police verified that the telephone number that the unfortunate man had called belonged to the 26-year-old and that the credit card to which the person on the other end had asked him to credit the money belonged to the 22-year-old.
However, before carrying out any operation on her current account, the victim went to the post office to verify whether the requests she had received were true and, once she understood that it was a scam, she contacted the Carabinieri who immediately began investigations, identifying the 22-year-old and the 26-year-old who were reported to the judicial authorities.
