The Provincial Command of the Guardia di Finanza of Avellino under the orders of Colonel Minale, during the Christmas holidays with specific services aimed at combating the sale of illegal fireworks and the methods of detention for the protection of public safety.
In this context, yesterday, the yellow flames of the Group of Avellino, directed by Maj. Silverio Papis, carried out a large seizure of approximately 36.000 pyrotechnic devices, illegally stored in a private garage and without respecting the required safety regulations, such as to put at risk the safety of the condominium's inhabitants.
In particular, the pyrotechnic products were kept in a room of approximately 20 mXNUMX, without windows or other openings to the outside and positioned near easily flammable material, including gas cylinders for domestic use.
Following the activities, pyrotechnic material of various types and categories was seized, for a total weight of over 176 kg and a net explosive content (NEC) of approximately 45 kg, for a commercial value of approximately €15.000,00, while the person responsible, a 52-year-old Italian citizen, was reported to the competent authorities for violation of art. 47 of the TULPS and for the crime under art. 678 of the penal code.
For unlawful conduct under investigation by the competent Judicial Authority, on the basis of the principle of presumption of innocence, the guilt of the person under investigation will be definitively ascertained only if an irrevocable sentence of conviction is issued.
The operation carried out demonstrates the constant commitment of the Fiamme Gialle Irpine in combating the sale of illegally held fireworks, which every year causes dozens of injuries during the end-of-year holidays and which, since the beginning of the Christmas holidays, has already led to the arrest of one individual, the reporting of 2 additional citizens, in addition to the seizure of 6 quintals of illegal fireworks and 2 quintals of gunpowder.
