To reduce air pollution at Benevento there will be free city buses during the Christmas holidays. The announcement was made by Mayor Clemente Mastella, together with Councilor Luigi Ambrosone. “For the first time in the history of the city, during the Christmas holidays the urban public transport service will be free.
We have received full availability of Trotta bus and therefore on the 21st, 22nd, 23rd, 24th, 29th, 30th and 31st of December, citizens will be able to use the city buses completely free of charge. It is an initiative that we are proud of and that we are sure will be met with considerable appreciation and success”. “We hope – continues the mayor’s note – that the free buses on the hot days of Christmas shopping, when traffic volumes notoriously increase dramatically, will induce many to give up their cars.
In this way we will be able to achieve a significant reduction in air pollution and reconcile the needs of production activities, for which this time of year is particularly important, with the need to preserve the healthiness of the air: sustainable and zero-impact Christmas shopping will produce benefits for everyone". "We will also allow those who do not have a driving license or a car to be able to dedicate themselves, at zero cost, to the ritual of Christmas shopping. We thank Trotta bus for having accepted the administration's proposal and for the sensitivity shown towards the protection of environmental sustainability in the city and for the contribution to the reduction of polluting emissions", conclude the mayor and the councilor.
