It is an appeal to responsibility, that of the new prefect of Naples, Michele of Bari, is aimed at citizens, especially young people, in view of the New Year celebrations.

"Given such a powerful measure we've implemented, I hope this festival will be a community celebration," he said during the end-of-year press conference. "I appeal above all to young people to behave responsibly to prevent negative events that could affect public and private safety.

I also appeal to the public to use public transport. We're deploying maximum staff, but everyone's cooperation and sense of responsibility are essential."

In the field, to ensure safety, there will be 360 police forces, 160-180 municipal police, 180 firefighters: a total of about 600-650 people. In the meantime, the seizures of firecrackers, which are increasingly dangerous, continue and increase compared to last year. This was underlined during the press conference by the provincial commander of the Carabinieri of Naples, Brigadier General Enrico Scandone, and Colonels Paolo Consiglio, commander of the Pef unit of Naples.

"This is several hundred kilos more than last year," explained the Carabinieri chief. "We've conducted a thorough investigation not only in Naples but also throughout the province. This year, there's been a significant increase in the amount we've removed from the market. Importantly, in addition to the quantity of firecrackers, we've also seized a significant number of large firecrackers, which are the most dangerous."

Great attention is also paid to supply channels, not only through traditional networks, as Colonel Consiglio explained, but also online, which has become one of the main supply and sales channels for dangerous goods, as well as the seizure of assets from the proceeds of illegal sales.
