In conjunction with the Christmas and New Year holidays, the military personnel of the Provincial Command of the Guardia di Finanza of Caserta, within the scope of the execution of the Institute's services, aimed at combating the marketing of counterfeit and unsafe products, to protect consumer safety, have carried out several interventions in the Terra di Lavoro area, at the end of which products that did not comply with safety standards were seized.
In particular, during inspections carried out at various commercial establishments, located in Teverola, Orta di Atella, Gricignano di Aversa, Marcianise, Maddaloni, Santa Maria a Vico, San Marco Evangelista, San Felice a Cancello, Capodrise, Pastorano and Cellole, by the military personnel belonging respectively to the Caserta Economic and Financial Police Unit, the Aversa Group, the Marcianise Company, the Capua Company and the Sessa Aurunca Tenancy, goods were found that did not comply with the current legislation, as they did not report, in a clearly visible and legible manner, the minimum information in Italian required by the legislation on product labelling and safety, regarding information about the place of origin, the manufacturer/importer and the instructions, precautions and intended use, as well as the "CE" mark which gives the product the right to be marketed, to free circulation and to be used in the Community territory, certifying its conformity with the safety standards imposed by the Union. European.
In detail, over 543.000 products and accessories of various kinds were seized, such as objects, lights and Christmas decorations in general; personal products and cosmetics; computer and/or electronic material; products for animals; as well as tobacco products without the State Monopolies mark. The commercial value of the goods seized is approximately 630.000,00 euros.
In addition to the seizure of the goods, the traders were administratively sanctioned, with overall fines amounting to over 464.000 euros, the maximum amount allowed by law, and were therefore reported to the local Chamber of Commerce for the measures within their jurisdiction.
The Guardia di Finanza continues its activity aimed at countering the spread of products that do not comply with safety standards throughout the province of Caserta, helping to ensure effective consumer protection and a competitive market where honest economic operators can benefit from fair competition conditions.
At the same time, on the front of surveillance of the production, trade and possession of fireworks, the financial police of the Capua Company seized approximately 70 kg of category F2 fireworks found inside a car driven by an Italian citizen, who was reported to the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Court of Santa Maria Capua Vetere.
