The serial car thief who stumbled upon an honest citizen ready to report the thefts in progress and the prompt intervention of an off-duty carabiniere and those of the Frignano station will spend New Year's Eve in prison.
It's lunchtime and we're in Teverola. A local man is walking along via Salvo D'acquisto when he notices a person approaching the parked cars. He forces the door of a car, then forces another and then another, taking from inside them as many things as possible between objects and shopping bags in the shortest possible time.
The citizen then calls a friend of his: he is a brigadier of the radiomobile section of the Giugliano in Campania company. The soldier - who lives in Trentola - has just finished his shift and in those minutes is returning home, he is in his car but wearing his uniform.
The brigadier contacts the operations center of the Aversa company and in the meantime reaches the “reported” location.
The military and the Carabinieri of the Frignano station reach the suspect and in a few minutes they block him and then arrest him. It is about Massimiliano Avolio, 47 years old from Giugliano already known to the police and is now awaiting trial for aggravated theft.
The thief also had in his car food stolen from elsewhere and donated to the parish
The stolen goods were returned to their rightful owners, but in the arrested man's car there were other foods that were probably stolen who knows where. The Carabinieri, in concert with the Prosecutor's Office of Naples North, took the goods and rather than seize them, they donated them to the parish priest of the sanctuary of Giugliano Maria Santissima delle Grazie for the most needy.
