An investigation by the Guardia di Finanza led to the reporting of 39 people for false declarations and damages to the public purse.
The investigations started from some reports from schools that had found anomalies in the working positions of some ATA employees.
The checks revealed that the reported individuals had falsely certified their possession of cultural, professional or service qualifications in order to obtain employment with fixed-term contracts.
In particular, the diplomas had been falsified by four Campania schools, three of which were in the Salerno area. In particular in Nocera Inferiore, Agropoli and Castellabate. While the service qualifications had been acquired by working in unlikely private schools. Of the 39 people investigated, eight are from the province of Salerno and, precisely, two from the capital, two from Nocera, the others from Mercato San Severino, Roccapiemonte, Sarno and Pagani.
Furthermore, 30 ATA employees admitted to possessing false service qualifications, certifying that they had worked at some private schools.
Subsequent investigations revealed that, without the scores linked to the false diplomas and service titles, almost all of the candidates under investigation would never have obtained the work contracts assigned to them.
The Guardia di Finanza investigations are still ongoing and it is not excluded that they could lead to new complaints.
Meanwhile, the Campania Regional School Office has started a series of administrative checks on the declarations of educational and service qualifications of all ATA employees who have taken up service in schools in northern Italy.
In particular, attention is focused on candidates from Salerno, who represent 8% of the national total.
This operation, called “DiplomATA”, is an important signal of contrast to the falsification of educational and service qualifications, which represents a serious damage for public schools and for citizens.
The administrative and criminal checks currently underway are aimed at ensuring the transparency and correctness of the procedures for hiring ATA staff and at protecting the rights of all candidates, who must have the opportunity to compete for job positions based on their merits and not on the basis of false declarations.
