Three people were reported by the Carabinieri of the Ercolano branch for a fight that broke out on Via IV Novembre. The call to 112 came in the evening. A man reported a large group of boys involved in a violent brawl.
Two young men who seemed to have been the driving force behind the collision had just fled in a black Fiat Panda. The military located the car in a few minutes, thanks to the various patrols deployed in the area during the evening of Christmas Eve.
A 22-year-old was driving, with him a 25-year-old and two young girls. During the street check, about 25 people surrounded the patrol and the young people's car, the latter being the real target of the group.
The two Carabinieri, divided by the urgency of preventing the Panda's occupants from being lynched and attacked themselves, maintained calm and contained the crowd. Reinforcements arrived shortly thereafter, and the two young men were taken to the barracks. The approximately 25 people dispersed, but officers are working to identify them.
In the meantime, the 22-year-old and the 25-year-old have been reported. With them also a 47-year-old from Ercolano who spontaneously showed up at the police station to admit his involvement in the brawl. Visible blood stains on the clothes. The reasons that triggered the violence are still being examined by investigators. Investigations continue to reconstruct the dynamics.
This is the comment of the Mayor of Ercolano and national vice president of Anci Ciro Bonajuto regarding the episode that occurred on the evening of December 24th in the City of Excavations.
"Many people have chosen to celebrate in the streets of our city these days. The area around Via IV Novembre and Corso Italia has been filled with joy and fun, and is constantly patrolled by our traffic police and all other law enforcement agencies, who have done an exceptional job.
Two idiots arguing won't be able to ruin the magic and image of an extraordinary Christmas in Ercolano. The Carabinieri bravely prevented the situation from escalating. Violence in our city cannot be tolerated. these idiots won't find never any solidarity between good people. The safety and well-being of citizens is our priority".
