Salerno. A new episode of violence has shaken the Fuorni prison in Salerno. A drunken prisoner, confined on the first floor of Plan B, destroyed and set fire to his cell. The section commander, Tiziana Guacci, who was trying to calm him down, was attacked with a slap.
Shortly before, in the same section, there had been a fight, with an inmate rushed to the hospital with lacerations to his head.
“There are no more words to define the working conditions of the prison police”, declared Guacci, regional secretary for Campania of the Autonomous Union of Penitentiary Police (Sappe).
"The situation is dramatic to say the least. Attacks are the order of the day and, despite the countless reports from the Sappe, everyone is watching and waiting: what, that some honest servant of the State will lose his feathers? Now that's enough! The prison police are asking the institutions for help in remedying this outrage."
Il Know requested the immediate intervention of the Ministry of Justice and the Department of Penitentiary Administration to guarantee the safety of the agents and the inmates.
