Four people have died following a fire that broke out late yesterday evening at the Tivoli hospital. Two men and two women , all patients at the facility, reportedly died of poisoning, while one died of a heart attack. A fourth person reportedly died shortly before the fire broke out. Dozens of patients were evacuated from the Tivoli hospital and transferred to the nearby municipal gym, set up by the local Civil Protection Department with blankets, pillows, and camp beds. Tivoli's mayor, Giuseppe Proietti, wrote on social media . "The Maramotti municipal gym," Proietti said , "is used as a transit facility for patients who will wait there to be transferred by ambulance to other hospitals . " The flames have been extinguished and safety measures are underway. The fire is believed to have started in some rooms housing outpatient clinics. The rooms are on the hospital's basement level, and from there the flames reached the emergency room and intensive care unit. Other departments were apparently unaffected, but the dense smoke filled the entire hospital, necessitating the evacuation of the entire facility.
