The coach of the Italian national team, Luciano Spalletti, spoke about his commitment to the Azzurri team, the next edition of the European Championships in Germany and the historic moment that young people are experiencing.
“The blue jersey is a gift that is given to us – Spalletti said -. We cannot back down, we must feel part of something and give meaning to life. The commitment must be constant and continuous, because we are part of a National team and we must highlight some values”.
Spalletti then spoke about the next European Championship: “We will arrive as reigning champions and we should not care whether or not someone believes in us. The players must believe in themselves. We imagine that none of our opponents will be happy to meet Italy. Then we must do what is our duty on the pitch. We want to be remembered by everyone for being a team that played fierce and courageous football, going to face our opponents face to face”.
The technical commissioner then addressed the issue of the relationship between young people and the virtual world: "There is the danger of the virtual world versus the physical world made of real hugs. Some players like fantasy football more than soccer, you have to understand the differences first and we are working in this direction".
The National Team Coach also spoke about Mihajlovic
Finally, Spalletti recalled Sinisa Mihajlović, whose death marks the first anniversary today: “I have many memories of Sinisa. He was a loyal opponent who cared about his sporting commitment. The game and the beauty of football were central to him and when he played against Napoli he told me he would have been happy if we had won the championship”.
