“Thefts continue to increase in this pre-Christmas period. And we must forget about the 'professional' burglars who left almost no trace, except for the stolen goods, of their passage: now the thieves are becoming more and more impetuous, bold and act improvising like amateurs in disarray”.
This is what the deputy of the Green-Side Alliance Francesco Borrelli states, citing the episode, of which he has learned, of a theft for the paltry sum of 6 euros.
“The damage they cause – explains – clearly exceed the value of the loot recovered. They smash shop windows with their cars during closing time and then enter inside and make off with what is left in the cash register”.
Borrelli, after receiving several reports from traders, had already raised the alarm about the boom in thefts carried out with this system and today he is relaunching it after being made aware of yet another theft that took place in District of the Cavalry of Aosta di Napoli.
The owner of a pub told the MP, through video and photographic documentation, about the theft suffered by a thief who, to enter his establishment, broke the window with a Ford Fiesta. The loot recovered from the cash register? 6 euros. The damage suffered to the window and to the establishment is much more.
“The police forces – it's Borrelli's appeal – they must constantly monitor this phenomenon and carry out prevention activities to protect shopkeepers especially during this holiday season. Too many thugs are going around and just to scrape together a few pennies they cause huge damage to businesses. They must be stopped at all costs otherwise it will be difficult for shopkeepers to continue and this Christmas risks turning into a nightmare”.
