An inter-force blitz led to the seizure of six pistols, drugs, contraband cigarettes and stolen medicines in the Ponticelli neighborhood of Naples.
The operation, which began at dawn today, saw the participation of personnel from the State Police, the Carabinieri and the Guardia di Finanza.
The checks, carried out in various parts of the neighborhood, led to the discovery of six pistols, one of which with a bullet in the barrel; approximately 200 grams of cocaine; approximately 1 kilo of marijuana;
approximately 2 kilos of hashish; over 200 packets of contraband cigarettes; approximately 100 packages of stolen drugs.
Two people were also identified and fined for possession of narcotics for personal use and for receiving stolen goods. Other people were fined for violations of the Highway Code.
A business in the area was instead checked and fined for occupying public land and for not having a SCIA (certified notification of commencement of business) for the provision of food and beverages.
The activity was coordinated by the Public Prosecutor's Office of NapoliThe activity in question saw the participation of Fire Brigade personnel.
The operations were controlled from above by helicopters from the State Police Flight Department and the Air Section of the Guardia di Finanza.
Law enforcement officials have assured that they will continue to monitor the area to combat organized crime.
