The Prefecture of Caserta has ordered a police surveillance at the private residence and the municipal building of the mayor of Cellole, Guido Di Leone, after the arson attack that took place last Thursday.
An incendiary device, a Molotov cocktail, was thrown into the hallway of the City Hall adjacent to the City Council chamber. The flames blackened the walls and ceiling, but were quickly extinguished by an employee with a fire extinguisher.
The incident occurred while Di Leone was at the Prefecture in Caserta to acquire for the municipal property a villa confiscated from a Caserta Camorra boss.

The Carabinieri of the Sessa Aurunca Company are investigating the incident, but at this time the individuals responsible have not been identified.
The coincidence between the attack and the acquisition of the villa confiscated from the Camorra has been considered, but investigators believe it is unlikely. Indeed, no Camorra-related threats, pressure, or intimidation have ever been reported in relation to this property.
It's possible that the mayor may be assigned a bodyguard in the coming days. He stated that he's "calm, because we've always worked for the common good. There's certainly concern about what happened, and we hope law enforcement will shed light on the situation as soon as possible."
