Rossella Cominotti, 53 years old, was found lifeless this morning in a bedroomhotel in Mattarana, a hamlet of Carrodano in the province of La Spezia.
The discovery was made during cleaning operations carried out by the cleaning staff. The woman had been missing for about 12 days together with her husband, Alfredo Zenucchi, 57 years old, in an alleged escape linked to economic issues from the Cremonese area, where the couple resided.
The death of Rossella Cominotti was detected as the 110th victim of femicide in Italy during 2023. Investigators believe that the husband, Alfredo Zenucchi, is responsible for the murder. The man was stopped in the Lunigiana area after a brief escape and cooperated during questioning.
The crime scene showed Rossella's body lying on the bed with deep cut wounds, and next to her was found the probable murder weapon: a straight razor, with which the killer is presumed to have repeatedly struck her.
The couple, originally from Cavatigozzi on the outskirts of Cremona, ran a newsstand in the center of Bonemerse. Their disappearance had caused concern, and a relative of Rossella had launched an appeal on Facebook.
However, the tragic discovery of the body and the subsequent capture of Alfredo Zenucchi in Liguria, after a few hours on the run, shed light on the situation.
The couple’s neighbors say that despite the couple’s private nature, they have never noticed any aggressive behavior or arguments. However, some describe them as “strange” due to their lack of interaction with the neighborhood and the apartment complex.
The investigation is ongoing, and investigators seem to have enough evidence to validate Zenucchi's arrest, accusing him of the crime of voluntary homicide. At the moment, the alleged murderer has not made any confession.
