Neapolitan lawyer Gennaro De Falco, who defended three defendants in the Stabile Camorra clan trial, said he was “disheartened” by the fact that, three years after the first-instance verdict, the reasons for the verdict have still not been communicated.
“I will retire before reading the reasons for this sentence which proved me completely right”, said De Falco. “This is not justice: money, time and lives wasted.”
The trial, which began in 1998, lasted over twenty years. The crimes charged to the defendants, who were all fully acquitted, were particularly serious: murder, mafia-type criminal association, robbery and extortion.
“I am convinced that the process is now completely time-barred”, added De Falco. “In essence, another case, certainly not the only one, in which justice becomes injustice with money, time and lives burned without any sense.”
