The young man, a 25-year-old originally from Caserta, was called Antonio and should have graduated today. He left a note to his parents in which he explained the reasons for his gesture: "I can't take it anymore, I feel alone and misunderstood."
At the moment, the reasons that led the young man to suicide are still unclear. Investigators are investigating in all directions, also with reference to the young man's university career.
The rector of the Federico II University of Napoli, Matteo Lorito, expressed his deep sorrow at the loss of the young student. “The loss of one of our students marks a defeat and must be a reason for reflection for us who have the responsibility of accompanying the kids in their personal and professional growth, in the construction of their life project”, Lorito said.

The rector also invited students to ask for help in case of difficulties. “They must learn to ask for help,” he said, “to allow themselves the possibility of failure, to learn to show their own fragilities: the community they are part of is a community that welcomes and supports without judging.”
Antonio's death is a tragedy that has shocked the entire academic community. His gesture must be a warning to everyone, so that we can prevent suicide, which is a serious disease that can strike anyone, regardless of age, sex, social class or educational background.
