Illicit waste trafficking discovered between Campania and Molise: two people arrested by the Carabinieri for Environmental Protection and Energy Security.
The two precautionary measures issued by the Naples investigating judge at the request of the District Anti-Mafia Directorate, against owners and de facto managers of transport companies and waste recovery/treatment centers, accused of illicit waste trafficking.
In particular, the suspects allegedly drew up identification forms with false data, both for the disposal site and for the type of waste, consisting of gravel for railway ballast, coming from the construction sites of the Italian Railway Network, as well as plastic, paper and cardboard packaging. The waste was illegally disposed of by abandonment on some agricultural land in the provinces of Caserta and Campobasso.
There were two illicit waste flows: the first concerned the management of a total of approximately 300.000 tons of special waste collected from some RFI construction sites, managed by the company ARMAFER srl, fictitiously destined for the company FONTEDIL srl and illegally disposed of on agricultural land Villa Literno (CE) and Guardiaregia (CB).
The second concerns the management of a total of approximately 1.000 tons of special waste coming from recovery plants in the province of Latina and from the CIS of Nola, fictitiously intended for the company BEMA srl of Villa Literno (CE), but in reality resold to unsuspecting buyers.
The investigating judge also noted that, in light of such quantities of illegally treated waste, the unjust profit derived by the companies responsible for the treatment is equal to approximately 4.000.000 euros. At the same time, the Carabinieri seized the storage plant of the company BEMA srl of Villa Literno.
