Baby gang, 40 arrests and 70 reports in the world of Trappers

The Italian State Police conducted a large-scale operation targeting child gangs in 14 Italian provinces. The operation, which involved over 500 officers coordinated by the SCO (Central Operations Service), resulted in the arrest of 40 people, approximately 25% of whom were minors, and the reporting of another 70, one-third of whom were minors.

The interventions mainly concerned youth gathering areas and contexts adjacent to the trappers' world. The investigations, conducted by the Flying Squads and the competent SISCOs, started from preliminary investigations and targeted monitoring of some social networks on subjects and places considered connected to youth deviance.

In support of the investigative offices, 135 teams from the Crime Prevention Departments from all over Italy and some canine units operated to carry out anti-drug activities.

During the operation, weapons, drugs, and money were seized, and the investigation also revealed that the gangs involved were involved in a variety of crimes, including theft, robbery, extortion, and assault.

The operation by the State Police demonstrated that the police forces are committed to combating this phenomenon and ensuring the safety of citizens.

In each province the operations concerned specific objectives and in particular in Campania:

IN NAPLES, targeted services were set up, among other things, in the Mergellina neighborhood, the scene of violent episodes between groups of young people. In the morning quadrant, checks were carried out near schools, while in the evening quadrant, activities were concentrated in the nightlife area. A total of 1,3 kg of cocaine and 5,300 kg of heroin were seized from unknown persons in the areas of the bad nightlife. In addition, 3 people were reported at large for possession of narcotics.

In SALERNO, services have been set up in the vicinity of some schools at closing time with the aim of combating the retail sale of narcotics and controlling individuals already involved in episodes of fights and/or bullying. A similar device has been implemented in places where young people gather and in nightlife areas, where in recent years episodes of conflict between opposing groups have occurred. The operations have been extended to neighboring municipalities, with the involvement of the Police Stations of Nocera Inferiore, Cava de' Tirreni, Battipaglia, Sarno.

Searches were carried out at the homes of individuals known for committing crimes involving weapons and drugs, with important operational results, including the seizure of a pistol with a scratched serial number, a possible weapon in a recent attempted murder of a minor, which occurred in the context of friction between local youth groups. A significant quantity of doses of narcotics was also seized near a local school, found in the possession of a thirty-year-old Italian, who was subsequently arrested.

In detail, 41 people were arrested, including 4 minors, and 74 people were reported at large, including 24 minors. In the same context, a total of 6342 people were checked and identified, including 2287 minors, and 1485 vehicles were checked, including through 194 checkpoints; 124 traffic violations were contested, and 27 vehicles were seized.

The activity allowed, among other things, to start 13 administrative proceedings for the application of personal preventive measures, as well as for the closure, pursuant to Article 100 of the TULPS, of public establishments and night clubs. Finally, as a result of today's vast operation, a total of over 12 kilograms of narcotics were seized, such as cocaine, cannabinoids and heroin; knives, knuckledusters and other objects capable of causing offence were also seized.

Three guns were seized, one of which in the province of Salerno considered as an “altered” weapon and used for an attempted murder. The investigative activity mentioned was coordinated by the competent judicial authorities, also for the determinations on the precautionary measures adopted.
