The Carabinieri discovered a warehouse for contraband cigarettes in the area north of Naples in a building in Varcaturo, on the outskirts of Giugliano.
Inside were 123 packs of cigarettes and 100 pounds of illegal cigarettes. The equivalent of two small cars in nicotine and tar. A tower of packs that, if stacked, would exceed 2 kilometers.

The soldiers in fact followed a 58-year-old and a 27-year-old to a building in the coastal hamlet of Giugliano in Campania. They were stopped and then searched. In their pockets were the keys to a warehouse in a nearby courtyard.
Inside were dozens of large boxes, all containing contraband cigarettes stored in packs of 20, imitations of the famous red and white brand. All identical but without the seals of the State Monopolies.

The blondes were seized, while the two were arrested. They are now in prison, awaiting trial. The Carabinieri investigation continues to establish the roles of the two arrested men within the organization that managed such a massive contraband trafficking ring.
The seized cargo, if placed on the illegal market, would have brought the smuggling gang at least half a million euros.
