The film and food festival concludes on January 5 at the Teatro Armida (ANSA) - NAPLES, JANUARY 04 - Franco Nero was awarded the "SorrentoFFF 2024 Legend Award," a special prize as part of the second edition of the 'Sorrento Film & Food Festival', promoted by The Artists' Club Italia (president Antonella Cocco), with the patronage of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean, the Metropolitan City of Naples, the Municipality of Sorrento, with the support of the Ministry of Culture (DG Cinema) and the Campania Region.
Franco Nero will receive the award from Sorrento Mayor Massimo Coppola on Friday, January 5th at the Armida Theater during the closing gala of the event. Awards will also be given to directors Dennis Dellai, Valerio Esposito, and Francesco Apolloni; actors Livia Pillmann, Edoardo Costa, Liliana Esposito, and Aurelio Amato; musicians Ciccio Merolla, Davide De Gregorio, and Marco Zurzolo; and Chefs Maicol Izzo (Piazzetta Milu' in Castellammare - 2 Michelin Stars) and Peppe Guida (Vico Equense - 1 Michelin Star).

Originally from Puglia but now living in Emilia, Franco Nero is probably the world's best-known contemporary Italian actor. Fresh from a busy season starring in several international films (including "The Jester from Transylvania" and the recent "Happy Days"), Nero recently directed a feature film in Italy, "The Pope's Exorcist," starring the controversial Oscar winner Kevin Spacey.
Husband of Vanessa Redgrave (whom he met on the set of Joshua Logan's "Camelot"), father of filmmaker Carlo Gabriel, an aid worker, the famous actor and director is in Hollywood history for being launched by John Huston in the blockbuster "The Bible" and for many successful performances starting with "Django," directed by Sergio Corbucci, which inspired Oscar-winning director Quentin Tarantino for the acclaimed remake starring Jamie Foxx, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Christoph Waltz.
