Sexual abuse of minors and possession of child pornography. A 34-year-old soccer coach from Siena has been indicted on these charges: the trial will begin on May 10th in Florence. The news was reported by Il Corriere Fiorentino. The investigation was initiated by the Grosseto prosecutor's office following a complaint from a mother, but was later transferred to the Florence district prosecutor's office responsible for computer crimes.
According to the prosecution, the coach allegedly abused an underage girl for two years. The investigation was initiated by the mother of a young player. The woman, checking her son's cell phone, became suspicious of several messages in which the soccer coach invited the boy to his home to pick up a gift: jerseys from two clubs.
The fourteen-year-old then told his mother that he had gone to pick up the gift, but had immediately left because the coach had attempted to abuse him. So his mother contacted the Carabinieri. Investigators seized the coach's cell phone and found hundreds of photos and videos containing child pornography. Among those were photos of the young soccer player.
