They had planned everything down to the smallest detail. But as always, the killer always makes a mistake, or more than one, as in this case.
They had also organized a diversion, hoping to mislead investigators, given that it was a violent death . An unusual scenario: a suicide allegedly involving the Camorra. They had also altered the crime scene.
Too many things didn't add up, too many mistakes. Here they are. Maddalena Masi and her partner Francesco Miranda , 39 and 51, accused of the murder of her ex-husband, Domenicantonio Vellega, were framed by a couple of very ordinary blue latex blood stains. The kind used at home for cleaning and household chores.
But also from the inevitable traces of blood that remain at the crime scene. The body of Domenicantonio Vellega was found charred on March 3, 2022, in a burned car on the border between Acerra and Marigliano.
According to the investigation, some witnesses had seen a man dressed in dark clothing and blue gloves walking away from the scene of the fire. Subsequently, two days after the sighting and discovery of the body, similar gloves were found in a garbage can on the balcony of the victim's ex-wife.

A witness stated that the woman used gloves to clean the balcony, however, at the time of the inspection of her home, the hygienic conditions were so precarious that the Carabinieri were unable to use the luminol technique.
Furthermore, the military of the Scientific Investigations Unit discovered Vellega's bloodstains in the apartment where Masi and Miranda lived and where the victim was until approximately twenty minutes before his Fiat 600 caught fire.
But the two also altered the crime scenes, both the apartment in Marigliano where they had stunned the victim, and then the Fiat Panda 600 with the victim still alive inside the passenger compartment.
Two fatal errors that did not escape the expert investigators of the Carabinieri of the Castello di Cisterna unit. The first error involved a gun, found at the victim's home and not present in a previous search.

And again: the front seats of the car in which the charred corpse was found were both reclined. And there was no reason for the man to decide to lower both seats and then kill himself.
Investigators believe that Vellega was knocked out and transported lying down in a car. Then, once at the place intended for the completion of the work, he was moved to the side and then set on fire.
So many mistakes then. Now that the two are in prison, the investigators are looking for the motive, which is not known at the moment. But it will probably be the two during the preliminary interrogation that will take place tomorrow in prison who will reveal it.
