"I felt a jolt in my heart when they told me Adam was in serious condition after feeling ill on New Year's Eve. At first it seemed Adam had been in a motorcycle accident, but the hospital later confirmed: serious cardiac arrest., writes Saviano, author of the novel 'La paranza dei bambini' which gave rise to the film of the same name.
Roberto Saviano expressed his condolences for the death of 23-year-old actor Adam Jendoubi in a post on Instagram:
Adam Jendoubi passed away at the age of 23. Dying at the age of just starting out generates despair: everything is wrong, everything is senseless, it's impossible to find consolation. I met him in Naples years ago, still a teenager, the video for Liberato's song had just come out, where he played the lead role, and he was experiencing the first curiosity of people who recognized him in the street. Expressive, dynamic, intense, it's not easy in a video without a single word spoken, to allow one's profile to emerge so clearly. Sentimental and at times brash, the director wanted him to be that way, and Adam was like that in everyday life. highlights Saviano.
"Adam had the face of the new Naples: half Polish, half Tunisian and completely Neapolitan. 'That's why you're so beautiful - I told him - You add several cultures and it's always like this, beauty is born from what mixes, intertwines, and merges because it arranges life in new and unexpected forms.' He looked at me perplexed and decided to respond with a smile to all that blathering, not understanding where it was going. Undaunted, I continued: 'You have three cultures inside you and how many languages do you speak?'. 'I speak Forcellano,' he replied, and we ended up in a din of laughter.
"Adam - continues Saviano - We had chosen him for the role of Aucelluzzo in the film "La paranza dei bambini" (Piranhas); acting was his true aspiration. And now? And now there's nothing else possible but to remember. The videos, the film, the photos, and the memories of those who grew up with him in Forcella will remain as traces of his life.
It will remain the story of a boy, son of two migrants, of two distant cultures, that Naples has managed to bring together, as this city always does, bringing everything together by giving universal citizenship to anyone who passes through and lives there.. "E -concludes- His organs will remain, breathing in other lives. Goodbye Adam, goodbye boy.".
