Having been laid off since October 2002, when the food center closed its doors, the 150 employees will be left without social safety nets at the end of January. And, as of now, no solution has been found.
On December 29th, a crisis meeting was held in the Campania Region to try to find a solution. IGD, the owner of the facility, also participated. Il Sole 365 renewed its interest in purchasing the site. Negotiations will continue in the coming days.

Meanwhile, workers are holding a permanent picket outside what was their home for over twenty years, as a banner draped over the closed shutters reads: "This is our home."
"We opened this place, thanks to our efforts and sacrifices. We were all hired in 1999, when there was nothing around here, not even roads. There were roads still to be built," explained Maria Buonocore, one of the laid-off employees and a UIL union representative.
"We just want to work with dignity," Maria Buonocore concluded. "We want to live off the money we earn and the sweat of our brow. We want our jobs back."
