The hearing to validate the arrest warrant issued against Gaetano Santaniello, accused of the murder of his aunt, Concetta Russo, was very brief, lasting just over half an hour.
The victim, a 55-year-old woman, was killed by a shot fired accidentally during New Year's Eve celebrations in a house in Afragola, in the province of Naples.
Gaetano Santaniello, 45 years old, defended by the lawyer Francesca Salvatici, was heard this morning in the Neapolitan prison of Poggioreale by the judge for the validation hearing of the Court of Napoli North.
During the hearing, Santaniello confirmed what he had already told investigators: the shot was fired accidentally from the gun he was showing to his relatives, believing it to be completely unloaded.

Santaniello is accused of manslaughter, illegal possession of a weapon in a public place and receiving stolen goods. The defense requested that the arrest not be validated and asked not to apply precautionary measures or to modify them to house arrest.
