On the evening of December 28, in a service area on the A1 just south of Orvieto, a woman was attacked by her partner during a trip from the province of Bolzano to Napoli to spend New Year's Eve.
The news, released today by the police, reveals that the woman, following the attack, asked her 10-year-old daughter, who was present at the scene, to call the police.
During a sudden argument, the woman allegedly stopped her car at the service station, telling the man she was going home with her daughter and asking him to leave the vehicle. In response, the man allegedly threw his cell phone at the woman, hitting her cheekbone. The woman immediately asked the child to call the state police.
Two patrol cars from the Orvieto traffic police subsection responded promptly to the dispatcher's report. The operator, keeping the child on the phone, provided real-time information. When the traffic police arrived, the man was leaning over the car, while the injured woman was in the driver's seat. The victim was transported to Orvieto hospital, where they were diagnosed with various bruises, grazes, and broken fingers.
The man was taken to the offices of the Highway Patrol sub-section and, by order of the public prosecutor on duty at the Terni Public Prosecutor's Office, was arrested. During the summary hearing, held the following day in Terni, the judge confirmed the arrest and issued a precautionary measure requiring him to leave the family home, as well as a ban on approaching the woman's residence and workplace.
