The hearing was held before the Single Judge of the Court of Welcome Dr. Rotili, the trial against Giovanni Noviello, 30 years old from Arpaia, defended by the lawyer Mario Cecere, accused of serious injuries and illegal possession of an improper weapon (stick), committed against Daniele Paolo, civil party, 36 years old from Airola, defended by the lawyer Vittorio Fucci.
The Gup Dr. Rotili, accepting the requests of the lawyer Vittorio Fucci, sentenced Giovanni Noviello, of Arpaia, to 4 years of imprisonment. The sentence was exemplary as the Judge ordered a sentence higher than that requested by the Pm, which was 3 years and 8 months, and an immediately enforceable provisional sum of 30 thousand euros in favor of Daniele Paolo, in addition to the additional compensation that will be liquidated in a separate venue.
He also sentenced Noviello to pay the legal costs for the sum of 2 thousand euros. The crime of illegal possession of a weapon (a stick) was time-barred. The facts date back to May 13, 2018, when Noviello, in the central square of Airola, attacked Daniele Paolo, hitting him in the face and causing a serious injury to his right eye.
The event caused a great stir in Airola, where an extraordinary open town council was even held on the specific issue and on the safety of Airola.
