Don Saturday 20 January 2024 at the Teatro Nuovo in Naples 'Tutte le notti di un giorno' by Alberto Conejero: a man and a woman cross a time, present and past, in a moving love story, intimate as a poem, complex as a biography.
A man and a woman, so close and yet so far from each other, are the protagonists of Tutte le notti di un giorno by Alberto Conejero, a work translated for the first time into Italian on commission from the Cervantes Institute of Naples by Maria Concetta Marzullo and Marco Ottaiano, on stage Saturday 20 January 2024 at 19.00:21 pm (repeated on Sunday XNUMX) at the Teatro Nuovo in Naples, directed by Manuel Di Martino.
Presented by Ente Teatro Cronaca, the production will see Claudio Di Palma and Marina Sorrenti on stage, also curator of the adaptation, in the stage space curated by the Two-Year Course in Scenography for the Theatre of the Academy of Fine Arts of Naples, and the costumes by Annamaria Morelli.
A man and a woman, Samuel and Silvia, so close and yet so far from each other, are locked under the roof of a greenhouse, trying not to be devoured by memories of the past.
The work also deals with being alive, with hope, with the need for beauty, with not being dragged by noise and time.
It is now a well-known fact: we are what we remember. Our present and our future are indisputably marked by what has been, and so memories, like the most beautiful of antinomies, become at the same time the brightest of refuges and the darkest of prisons. The protagonists of the story, Silvia and Samuel, the landlady and her gardener, are clearly aware of this. Both "know how much a memory can weigh inside", both guard it like the most intimate secret.
Yet, in a metaphysical night something breaks and as in the most beautiful catharsis the light invades the scene.
Their silences, buried mysteries, hidden wounds, come to life in a story that unfolds before the eyes of the viewer through a non-linear narration. Time is present and past. Life mixes with memory. Reality mixes with apparition. The greenhouse becomes the place where Silvia and Samuel recognize each other, and, together with the viewer who watches, they slowly try to shed light on the shadows and reclaim their own history, to finally be free.
All Nights of a Day is a thriller about a missing body that takes the form of a botanical treatise. A superb, profound, dramatic poem, created in the best tradition of symbolic theatre.
