Children's area or homeless camp? Looking at it, the little park inside the Cloister of Santa Chiara in Napoli, more than one doubt arises. Where there should be greenery, spaces for the little ones and rides there are instead degradation, garbage and makeshift camps.
"The area has become a garbage dump and a camp for homeless people who cook on makeshift fires and use the gardens as toilets. It's truly unsightly." This is the warning raised by yet another mother who has appealed to Green-Left MP Francesco Emilio Borrelli.
“We asked for intervention to clean up the area and to provide controls to safeguard what should be a space for the little ones.

“Obviously we also need to address the homeless emergency,” the parliamentarian continues. “It’s a delicate issue, but it must now be addressed with determination, sensitivity, and humanity.
Those people are certainly not garbage that can be picked up and taken away by force (solutions of this type have never brought any benefit). It is also unthinkable, moreover, to make them stay in a space dedicated to children and, what's more, living without any rules and endangering themselves and others. We need new structures and services that guarantee these people a decent life.”
