Arzano, crime emergency: minorities ask for a single-issue council

Arzano. The request, signed by opposition councilors Luigina Auletta, Salvatore Borreale, Giuseppe D'Angelo, Luigi De Rosa, Nicola Falzarano, Gennaro Ferone, Emanuele Marco Rega and Natale Russo was also sent to the Prefect of Napoli Michael of Bari.

The request for a single-issue City Council meeting to discuss the security emergency in the city was filed and addressed by the opposition council groups to the President of the City Council. Daniela D'Angelo, to the mayor Vincenza Aruta and to the Secretary General Francesco Battaglia, following the very serious incidents against Arzano traders, the latest stage in a criminal escalation that does not seem to be stopping.

The oppositions – Alternative for Arzano, Arzano Alive, UdC e Turn the Page Arzano – concerned, they call on local institutions to take note of the gravity of the situation and to react promptly through discussion and consequent measures.

The reason for an urgent discussion in the City Council – having as its subject “security emergency” – lies in the fact that crime incidents are repeating themselves in the city with worrying frequency, causing fear and concern among citizens who perceive ever-increasing risks to their safety.

Therefore, given the seriousness and urgency of the issues raised and the need for an immediate response from city institutions, opposition councilors could request a detailed report from the Mayor on the state of public order in the city and a serious and in-depth debate in the City Council to identify the most appropriate initiatives to combat crime.

The date will be set in the next few hours by a possible conference of group leaders, but in all likelihood the single-issue City Council should be convened as soon as possible.
